Adventure to Korea - July 07'

It had been a year already.

In July 2006, magic happened. I was told that I am one of the students who are accepted for the exchange programme at Sungkyunkwan University in Korea. In fact, I couldn't believe that I was chosen since I knew nothing about Korea and SKKU at that time. In addition to that, I don't know how to speak Korean at all!! Not only myself, but also my family and friends worried about me - how I could survive in a world that I know nothing about.

Yet, I knew an exciting adventure was going to be started and I am destined to survive and grow up after all.

From nothing to something

26 February 07' - This is the day that I arrived in Korea.

In the week before I came to Korea, everything was still filled with lots of uncertainties. I didn't know how to go the SKKU from the airport, I didn't change any Korean dollars, I didn't know where is the campus, I didn't know which courses I am going to take......etc. haha~~all my friends just couldn't imagine how stupid I am and why I was still being so calm at that time. Actually, at that moment, I just believed that my school - Sungkyunkwan University would help me to arrange everything and that's all I relied on.

And the thing is, I was right.

SKKU helped me to adapt to the Korean lifestyle and get me through the toughest time I had in Korea. It's really the coolest university I had ever met, especially compare to the universities that my friends had exchanged to.

When I arrived at the airport at night on 26 Feb, which was delayed for an hour and a half. My worries came. I was so afraid that my HI-Club buddy would had left and I needed to find my way to the dormitory. Yet, the first thing I saw when I walked out of the arrival gate was my name wrote in a very big cardboard which I can definitely spot it out from the crowd.

And there she was. my HI-club Buddy from SKKU.

You just couldn't imagine how thankful and touching I felt at that time, knowing she had been waiting for me, the helpless exchange girl from HK (haha~), for around 2 hours in the airport, at night, in winter.

On the contrary, my friend who came with me and is exchanged to another Korean university was not as lucky as I am. She ended up to be alone in the airport and her buddy didn't come to pick her up, even worse, her university had asked her to come on that date but didn't provide her any room in the dormitory. In the end, she needed to find a hotel in seoul to stay for 2 nights before getting a bed in her dormitory.

Since my friend and me also knew nothing about Korea at that time, I asked my buddy to help her. Actually she didn't need to do this flavor, but she is so kind that she took my friend to find a hotel in seoul and bring her there. In the end, she was still helping my friend at the time I had arrived the dormitory. It was already after 12am. How nice she is~~~>~<""

On the way home - my dormitory, other buddies also helped me to carry some of my luggages, knowing that my buddy was not there.

gosh...I just love my school from the first day, knowing how much they care about us and our settlement.

Sungkyunkwan University Rocks!!!!
